Paul has spent 20 years helping clients shape powerful brand and communications strategies. After completing his doctorate in consumer behaviour he’s worked as a Strategy Director in a number of leading UK brand, advertising, digital and strategy agencies and held board level roles.
Over the years he’s helped brands and organisations as diverse as HSBC, first direct, The Scottish Government, Coors, Scottish Enterprise, Symingtons and Oxfam, as well as countless smaller brands and start ups, create more commercial value from their brand and communications.
In the field of healthcare he’s worked with The Scottish Government to reduce alcohol consumption, helped AXA PPP Healthcare educate its customers, promoted nutritional solutions for Nordic Group and helped dnalife create a global brand.
He’s a hands on researcher and believes there is no substitute for getting out there and talking to real people to understand how to build experiences to meet their needs. He’s passionate about technology and innovation and how it can be creatively deployed to create experiences that meet those very real human needs.
He also loves running, cycling, swimming, camping, cooking, foraging, campfires, exploring and biohacking
With 20 years of delivering strategic technology and communication projects, Ed has a very good technical understanding how technology can help in solving problems, however complex.
Over the years he has delivered global projects for PlayStation, Umbro and Dr. Martens; digital strategy for first direct, blinkbox, Oxfam, Fox’s Biscuits, AXA PPP, Warburtons and many smaller brands and businesses ensuring that Ed’s experience is varied and extensive.
All of this work has provided Ed with a depth of experience in user centric thinking. From user experience planning, user journey mapping, product development planning to user research and data analysis. The work has included websites, social, apps, advertising, digital infrastructure (incl. physical space installations), digital products and digital experiences in public spaces. Across these projects the work has included not only development builds but also the content that engages and drives interaction.
Out of work Ed can be found long distance fell running, mountain biking, road biking, wild swimming and dragging his family with him on his ludicrous adventures.
